In my last post, i related to you the troubles the project had been suffering from mainly because of an ill-specified contract, and also, a breakdown in communication. Hopefully, this is all behind us now as Nick and i finally connected back over the phone and smoothed things out. The project is still suffering from delays, but we'll get through that. So i have one more piece of advice for all of you out there: email is dangerous.

It's very easy for people to project their own emotions over emails. If an email is anything but pure facts and even contains just an ounce of opinion, then you are in trouble unless the person on the other side knows you inside and out... For many of us in the e-generation, email has become such a normal form of communication that we often miss the fact that it is an imperfect replacement for actual voice and/or visual contact. Even over the phone, the tone of your voice can convey more underlying emotions and subtleties that an email can't. At some point, you can feel if a relationship deteriorates and then you must stop emails and get on the phone, or face to face. I live with that all the time in my daily work, but the lessons i learnt there somehow completely escaped me on this project. Strange phenomenon.

In any case... Some good things may happen for Time Flies over the next few weeks as we kick the project back into overdrive :) We'll keep you informed.
